Soft pastel is one of my favourite media. I love painting places I've never been to, imagining myself visiting them. The photograph which inspired me probably was from Wetcanvas artist image database but I can't remember where this place was.

St Michael Church in Breaston, Derbyshire, UK

We used to live near to this ancient village church in East Midlands. I painted this outdoors, in winter, standing by the local coop shop till a delivery lorry blocked my view. Just as well because then I realized how frozen I was! Soft pastel on pastel paper. The original artwork (about A3 in size) has been sold.

A watercolor, pencil and pen artwork on watercolor paper. Early autumn. Low warm sun light falling on a Russian wooden cottage, fence, grass and a couple of silver birch trees. A little village north to Moscow, where my friends have a house.

This picture was taken in summer 1999, recently edited digitally. Notice the dramatic Welsh sky and light, rich greens. Some buttercup flowers are visible on the foreground.
